Rhinegold Festival 2025

The year is flying by and by now it is already October! That means the Rhinegold Festival 2025 is about to take place. Next week, Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18, you can once again enjoy beautiful chamber music works in Wageningen!

Programme
Each year we program several highlights of classical music. On Friday evening, for example, no fewer than 8 (!) strings will take the stage during Mendelssohn's radiant String Octet, composed when he was only 16 years old. On Saturday morning, during the Coffee Concert, you can listen to solo violin music by Bach, performed by two young virtuosos; one won the Bach Competition in Leipzig and the other was a finalist in the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition. The final concert on Saturday evening will fill the church with vocal music by Poulenc and Ravel, among others. The festival concludes with Brahms' majestic Piano Quintet, a work that has gone through several versions, and you will hear the final result tonight.

Family concert ‘Wood Rope’
For the Family Concert on Saturday, Oct. 18, we invited a special duo: clarinetist Tom Wolfs and Lotte van Dijck, who sings and draws. They met on stage and then decided to create a short performance together for young audiences. Houtje Touwtje (2+) is a small, absurdist story that lifts you up and takes you away!

Award-winning musicians at Rhinegold Festival
Recently some of our musicians have won wonderful prizes. For example, Noëlle Drost (soprano) and Jorian van Nee (pianist) won 3rd prize at the prestigious International Vocal Competition ’s Hertogenbosch (IVC). The Fontana Quartet (string quartet) received a string quartet grant of €10,000 awarded by Het Kersjes Fonds. Curious about these promising musicians? They can all be admired at the Rhinegold Festival next week!
