Classic in Wageningen Foundation provides a stage for young, talented musicians and supports the performance of classical music in Wageningen. The figurehead of the Foundation is the Rhinegold Festival, a chamber music festival held each fall.
Our story
In 2022, the Rhinegold Festival was born out of an urgency to support young musicians and the cultural sector. After graduating from the conservatory, it is often difficult to get concerts and thus generate an income. With this festival, we create work for these young people and the creative sector. We give them the opportunity to share their music, gain chamber music experience and discover new repertoire. At the same time, the festival serves as a welcome addition to the cultural offerings in Wageningen and the surrounding area. We offer programming that is accessible to everyone, from young to old and those less fortunate.
Rhinegold Festival
The figurehead of Stichting Klassiek in Wageningen is: ‘Rhinegold Festival’, a chamber music festival organized every autumn. During this festival, concerts for all audiences are given, right in the center of Wageningen. Watch the aftermovie of our first edition 2022. The aftermovie of our second edition in 2023 is here to see.
A special goal of the foundation is to bring musicians and audiences together by breaking down barriers between the two. We want to do this by thinking ‘out of the box’ and offering classical concerts in a new form. On May 3, 2024, our first special concert will take place under the title: ‘Closer to Freedom,’ an interdisciplinary performance with music and poetry.
Objective
The aim of the foundation is to perform and promote classical music in Wageningen and its surroundings. This also includes the performance of all further actions, which are related to the above-mentioned aim in the broadest sense or which may be conducive to it.
Board and committee members perform their duties for the foundation unpaid. No expense allowance is provided.
